Being a thriving small family run street food business, we find ourselves regularly asked to help out with charitable causes and local community projects. Whilst we have managed to help at several fundraisers for cancer charities and individual community projects, we do find we are often inundated with requests for our help.

This is why in 2015 we made the decision to support a local charity called Framework. Framework's mission is as follows:

What we do

We exist to tackle the causes and con­sequences of homelessness. We do this

• by helping people who are homeless

• by preventing people from becoming home­less

• and by supporting people to live independently.

Our Values

We meet these objectives by adhering to a clear set of values – values we extend in all areas of our work to our service users, our staff, and the communities we serve.

We at Tom & Simon's Kitchen believe in an age where smartphones are ten a penny and food waste is through the roof, that it is simply criminal for people to be sleeping rough on the streets without food, warmth and shelter. Therefore we are now members of Frameworks Big Sleep Out committee, which helps to organise their biggest annual fundraiser of the year to help eradicate these issues.

The Big Sleep out allows for community members to come together and sleep out for just one night in the hope that others will not have to in the future. Through sponsorship and fund raising, this event is Frameworks biggest fund raiser of the year and last year we helped them by donating the use of one of our vans, staff and all of the food to be sold on the evening. In total over £700 was taken on the van that evening with every penny going to this fantastic cause.
