Tom & Simon's Kitchen was established in July 2009 by two friends, Tom and Simon. After discussions in a pub with other friends searching for ideas to start a business, and with the ambition to work for themselves in the food industry they came up with the idea of bringing back the old tradition of the mobile fish and chip van.​ With the purchase of their LDV van they began visiting local villages and selling their produce to the local people. Within a short space of time they had developed a loyal customer base which continued to expand.

 

In the summer of 2010 and both aged 19 they were asked to appear on BBC Radio Nottingham to discuss their success as young entrepreneurs in a recession. The summer of 2010 also brought change for the business with Tom leaving the business to be replaced by Wayne who is now affectionately known as 'Tom'. Simon and Wayne continued to enhance the brand of Tom & Simon's Kitchen in the Rushcliffe, Gedling and Newark areas of Nottingham.

At the start of 2013 Simon also decided to move on, now leaving Wayne, and his new colleague Matt to continue promoting and expanding the brand. With the ambition to further develop their product by expanding the business with more vans, venues and events offering a wider variety of catering facilities. Wayne and Matt pushed to establish Tom & Simon`s Kitchen as one of the leading fish and chip brands in the country.

 

Now in our 7th year and having recently been made finalists at the 2016 National Fish & Chip Awards the business is continuing to expand. Now a family run venture with brothers Wayne & Brett and the watchful eyes of Sharon (Mother) and Carole (Aunt) we aim to really put a stake in the ground in the midlands for traditional, freshly made fish & chips over the coming years.
